I have an 06 Am Deluxe Ash Strat w/ SCN and the sound has recently dropped out. My tone has dissappeared. I used to love the sound I got out of my neck pu but now the lows are distorted and the overall sound the guitar is not even close to the normal sound. I realize that something is wrong I just don't know what it is. Can anyone help me out?

You have to check under the pick gard : wiring or solders, guitar output jack

You have loose your tone on ALL the pickups ? In any switch position ?

Stupid questions : Your guitar wire to the amp is good ? Sure ?
Your amp is good ?

Your guitar is original, nothing modified before ? Pickups, pots. Somebody work inside ? You buy it new or used.

If you can't find anything wrong and you remove the pickgard, send us few pictures of the electronic

I hope it's just a wiring fault - maybe a wire under stress, or solder joint gone bad on the switch or on the pot.

If it's a pickup fault, you could be in trouble. I know from experience that SCN picups can't be repaired, as they are sealed units.

Good luck with it..

If the overall sound of the guitar is affected, chances are you have a a 'tired' or dirty volume pot or a bad connection somewhere (look to the jack first). I'd rule out the pickups as the odds of all three crapping out at the same time are astronomical. I kind of doubt it is the switch too as it would operate intermittently and I didn't read that in your complaint.

Just a foot note: When a guitar has electronically performed perfectly for many years and then something like this happens, always look to the parts which get the most use, stress, collected oxidization and/or are prone to wearing out first.
