Just received my new '62RI Vintage Tremolo yesterday. As I was looking through the parts I noticed a small metal ring/ferrule/collar that may or may not be threaded. Didn't notice this part when I removed the old one. Does anyone know where this goes!! I also received an extra spring -- it looks like an extra saddle spring, but I'm not sure. I would have attached a photo but not sure how to do it!

That small ring is a spacer for the included string tree.

I believe the coil spring is intended to be inserted into the hole in the trem block to keep some tension on the arm to prevent it from swinging haphazardly when installed.

Thanks for the info! None of my other strats have any spacers on the string trees, and I would have never guessed that it went there -- seemed kind of big! As far as the spring -- I'll just drop it in the hole, wind in the arm and see what happens. Thanks again!

Update -- I'm not sure that the "ring" is for the string tree -- the screw barely goes through both the tree and the spacer leaving about two threads to catch the wood. As for the spring -- I dropped it in the hole and it didn't seem to have any effect -- it did fall out when I removed the trem arm. Maybe I installed it incorrectly? Any other ideas out there?
