So it's been a few months and just wanted to update my original post... this thing is a keeper!!! I've never owned such a great playing/sounding strat. The chunky neck, decision to go with a hardtail, and choice of pickups has made for an amazing instrument!

I highly recommend MJT for a relic style body/neck and trying a set of Klein pickups if anyone is looking to start a relic strat project.

I recently picked up a Mustang III amp and I'm having a blast with both the new guitar and amp.
