Glad to hear you're enjoying it. I'm thinking about getting one, I'm just not sure about forking out the extra cash over a standard......

How are you finding the N3 pickups on it? I tried one in my local dealer once but didn't get long, and didn't really get a feel for them.

Oh, and one more thing - pics please!! They are nice looking guitars the deluxes...

I don't have an AM Deluxe but have set my MIM up with a pre-wired pickguard that came off a 2010 Am Deluxe. So far, I really like the tone, especially with the humbucker at the bridge.

I'm stilll playing with pickup height to get the best tone. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the "passing lane" switch. Feels a little like a gimick to me. No volume, no tone just flat out humbucker to the amp. I guess for some music it's OK but not sure.

I do like the S1 switching and the different variations you can get from it.

So far, I'm hapy.

Jeff

congrats, i have an 09 i think, before the n3.
i love mine too.
the s1 switch will take a while to find good tones, but once you do, youll want to hear more.

I went back and forth between the AM Stan HSS and the Am Deluxe HSS for about a month before I went with the Deluxe. Very happy I did and worth the extra 500. The N3s sound different (not bad) from my 90s Am Stan SSS. If I need surf sound I play the SSS. The locking tuners and the LSR nut are a dream for stability. I play Slinky 10 strings. The snap in Trem bar is handy. The guitar for some reason is hugs my better than my SSS. 11 positions on the PUPs are fun to play with though I still use mostly 2 positions (bridge humbucker and neck). Although I originally had my doubts, I am sold on the Deluxe series

My 2010 Am. Deluxe Ash is superb. The N3s do put out some excellent tones. I want an Am. Standard and will probably get one at some time but for now the budget says wait.

I finally bought a proper camera and should be able to post pics.

One of the big advantages of the American Deluxe HSS is the addition of a blower switch for getting more dirt, fatness and crunch from the humbucker within any position of the 5-way switch. This feature bypasses the whole circuit, giving you the full volume you might expect from the humbucking bridge pickup alone. Suhr, Yamaha and other makers use the blower switch on their guitars.

The only cons is the lack of a locking bridge option, which was an additional feature for the American Deluxe Series until 2007.

Hi ... Just bought a 2011 Am. Deluxe HSS. Is there any way to control the volume if the passing lane button is pushed in? I think the answer is No. If No, is the volume a function of something? For example, is the volume a function of the amp volume setting? Thank you.

Well, I have an '08 Am Deluxe SSS and the volume control serves the same function whether the s1 switch is activated or not.

So, unless they are wired differently to HSS or they made wiring changes to the series after '08 the volume control should control the volume even when the button is pushed in!

There are rumors saying the USA Deluxes being overhauled with the brand-new SUPER 55 SPLIT-COILS and a variety of new finishes this year, but it seems Fender has apparently no plans for a similar project like this...
