Hello all. I have just joined these forums and look forward to both learning and sharing information about these magnificent instruments.

I have a 1988 USA Standard Strat, bought new, in Torino Red with maple fingerboard. The guitar has just started to age very nicely with the control knobs and scrathplate taking on a slightly yellow sheen. The pick-up covers however, are still bright white. The colour itself is a quite dark red that I believe was only offered for a couple of years, I don't think it was very popular! No changes at all have been made to the guitar, although it does have the common lacquer crack in the neck pocket.

I also have a 1985 Japanese made Squier Tele (E Series serial no) that I think is every bit as good, if not better, than a brand new MIM Telecaster.

Here's to a long associaition with these forums.

A Big Hairy Welcome to you!

I hear lots of good things about MIJ Squires. I had an MIJ Strat for a while, a great guitar apart from the Kayler trem.

If you get the chance post a few pic's. :D

Andy

Hi stefan321, welcome to the Forum.

A surprising number of UK users here, including many who don't advertise the fact under their usernames. But the clues are there if you are equipped to notice them. Nudge nudge wink wink...

See you round.

Cheers - C

EDIT: grammar - d'oh!

Welcome to the forums! I had a MIJ Squier II Strat from '87 as one of my first guitars. One day my brother decided he was a luthier and when I came home from school, my guitar was laying in multiple pieces on the living room floor with my brother hovering over it with a sanding block and some very coarse sanding paper... He might as well have kicked me square in the groin when I walked in the door.
