Hi all,

Today I bought this guitar: Fender Squier Affinity Stratocaster. My first guitar ever ;P I started to play chords and after while one of string (A) start like buzzing (it sounds like it wasn't pressed enough, like metal sound ..., by I pressed very strong ). I don't know if it is caused by wrong tuning or guitar is faulty? Or maybe it is my fault ('cause i don't know how to play? )

If you could give me some tips it would be great

Thanks

That particular string is either too low (main suspect) or there is a slight high spot on one of the frets. (unlikely).

Try raising the height of the string. At the saddle for that string you will see two tiny hex screws. Give them half a turn, check for buzz. If the string still buzz's, give em another half a turn. Repeat that until you have the problem sorted. You'll need to retune the string after adjusting the height too.

All the best with it.

Hi There.

First off, welcome to the asylum here.
Every new guitar will need some adjustment to the set-up. If the store you bought the guitar from (Most good stores will set it up for you). Now this is something you should learn to do for yourself, but since this is your first guitar it would be best to have someone who knows how show you how to check your own set up.

If they can't help you, ask if they have a local luthier that can set it up for you. (This is not a warranty issue, it will cost you.)

If all else fails, in your owners manual it will walk you through the set-up, if you didn't get a owners manual, you can down load off the web site here.

New strings need to be stretched and retuned a little before they stay well. The best thing you could do is buy a book and learn to set it up right. Good luck and enjoy!

Take it the first time and have it setup for whatever gauge of strings you desire to use. (I use 10's) If you do not plan on using Trem quite yet have the bridge decked to keep you from further tuning probs. Then... Get a book. :?
