Just returned from The Music Zoo with my new '57VHR. All you Forum veterans will enjoy and understand what is funny and why about what follows. It just seems to be 'business as usual' with them. Case candy packet contains a narrative explaining that this 'vintage' instrument is supplied with a three-way switch and on the back of that sheet are instructions as to how to replace the 'vintage' three-way switch with a five-way switch (supplied) which will give me two additional tones. Fact is that the specs on the guitar specifiy a five-way switch, which is correctly installed. Now have an extra 5-way switch. Thank you, Fender. 8) Took for granted that this guitar would be supplied with a trem bar stock. My packet has two. Thank you, Fender for anticipating wild whammy antics which would strip the threads. 8) There are also two trem springs in the packet with the 5-way switch. I haven't yet removed the back plate but I would not be surprised if the guitar was set up with three in that the bridge is floating, but I will have that corrected in the near future. Will set this guitar up like a Clapton. A preference of mine. So I'm left to wonder whether the company has Stevie Wonder packing the case candy or they just wanted to put a smile on my face :D after having me wait 9 months for this guitar which, after all is said and done, they've done a nice job with. Hope to be able to post some pics in the future. I have a lot to do around here yet, but first I'm going to get some lunch. We expect more snow. Later dudes!

Well you finaly got the guitar Doc, and a load of extra's to boot!

I didn't get any extra springs or switch with mine. So if it worries you having them, you can always send em this way.

Hope that guitar does all you wish.

ZZ, I have to call foul here, and declare you post as a FAIL!

You have been here long enough to know better then you post about a new guitar and no picture to show us!

It's just cruel!

As to the extra goodies, it will be shortly someone will post how Zoo sold them a 57 without a switch and bar....you just watch.

I have to resurrect my cameras. Haven't had my hands on that gear for quite some time. In due course I post all five. I really want you all to see this Les Paul of mine. I've not yet seen another one finished like it to date. Only have weekends, and next week I'm out of state, so in due time. 'Sides, like looking at that bike of yours, better.

On the packet...definitely sealed in California. I suspect that somebody might have confused this w/a '57VRI. There also a little 'spot' on the bottom threads of one of the handles and, being close to five o'clock on a Friday, they probably just popped another one in the bag for good luck. Soon I'll venture to get the back off the guitar.

Thanks for the good thoughts, one and all.

Doc

Doc, maybe they mean you to try your trem with two arms? Now that would be a hotrodded Strat indeed!

Cheers - C

One that screws in from the back after back plate removal. So you can get all hawaiian type bends by hugging the guitar.

Vinnypop would get a 17 page dissertation out of that one.

Enjoy. Reminds me more of my old '58. Great neck profile.

Congrats!

"who is minding the store?"

I asked the same question when I discovered that the new American Standard Strat I purchased came with a pop-in tremolo block. The screw-in trem arm that came with it didn't work, of course.

Got me a pop-in type trem arm and I was very happy ...
