i bought an old tele it says made in japan on the base of the neck its a v neck i took the neck off and on back of the neck it says TL-52EX and also says the same thing in the neck pocket does any one know what this means??

I'm guessing it is a 52 Tele reissue. They number their strats like that, ST-62 would be a 62 strat re-issue, so it seems logical the Tele would be numbered similarly.

Did you try the serial number in the guitar dater? Just enter your serial number and check Japanese Made.

i can't find a serial number on it just the one on the back of the neck TL-52EX and that number don't work in the guitar dater.

52 reissue made in Japan

TL is their prefix for Telecaster, 52 is the model.

Looks like a '52 RI Tele to me. If I recall the serial number should have been on the neck plate in '52.

yep i am thinking some one stole the back plate off of it. if any one see's a phonie looking 52 reissue floating around out there its probably got my back plate on it. lmao

i found the serial number its on the metal part below the bridge pick up. it say's pat pend but it works in the guitar dater Ao65782 a guy on ebay told me he is selling one like it.

Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan
in the Year(s): 1985 - 1986
