I am trying to find out if anyone is familar with a 1999/2000 Strat model that may have come from the factory with the following specs. (sorry its in a samll shop in TN and I can't get pics)

1. "Graphite Saddles"
2. Pearl Pickguard
3. Rosewood Fretboard
4. Black Body
5. Maple Neck.

I know this sounds alot like most Starts but it is suppose to be new old stock and the graphite saddles and pearl pick guard to me don't seem to be for the American Standard and the Serial (N9399686) looks to be for a regular issue strat.

Any info would be appreciated.
Mike

Hi mbbreen,

Yeah, that doesn't seem like factory stock for some of those parts, to me, but I could be wrong. Maybe John C will see this post and help out, I'll bet that he knows. You can also contact Fender with the serial number and they should be able to give you some specifics on how it was when it came from the factory.

Posting some pictures might help, or at least be cool to look at. :)

Could've been an American "Roadhouse". Those were made in 1999/2000.
Here's a page from the 1999 Fender Frontline.
Hope this helps.

Hard to tell without photos but it does sound like a Roadhouse Strat (or possibly an "American Series Strat Texas Special" as it was renamed in July 2000. Regardless it would be possible for it to have a black body and a pearl pickguard.

The graphite saddles would be a mod; are you sure they just weren't the cast steel saddles that Fender used from 1986-2007?

John C.
The saddles are not the standard metal saddles these are Black and look the same as the saddles on my 98 AM Strat but are definitely Black and feel a little different. I don't think they were painted.

Also not sure about the PUPs but I don't think they are Texas Specials all magnets are even with the "plastic" cover none raised high like I believe are on the specials.
