Take a look (listen) to the VOX AC15C1 or the AC30. Really nice sounds.

I tried a Marshall JMD and thought the sounds were great. But you'll be spending at least a grand (US). The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe has established itself as a reliable working man's amp; it can play basically any style you need for a lot less than a grand.

Without calling into doubt any of Fender's products 1983. The OP expressed a desire for Marshall. Thats a sound Fender amps just won't do. Their built to far too exacting standards. (A amp tech i know, words not mine.)

Over a grand $. Man thats bad for a JMD. I won't pay that in sterling for a plexi. £600 is the max that I'd spend on the amp of amps. Which does come to around $1K.
Damn them import taxes eh?
