im about to experiment with a am strd strat, had been considering other pickups
but i think ive come to a solution, rather an experiment.
since i have neck and mid texas specials pickups, i kinda hate the idea of sticking them in a box and getting a whole new set of pickups.
option 1.
seymour duncan antiquity II surfer in the neck 6.3 ohms 77.00 usd
texas special in the middle 6.5 ohms
and seymour duncan antiquity texashot, or surfer added output for the bridge.
these have 9.7 ohms 77.00 usd
i understand that those numbers may not reflect the real output, but i thought it would help.
im really trying to not to spend so much, at the same time getting a great sounding guitar.
or is this really far fetched, and someone has experienced with this and hate it.

on the other side of the spectrum im also looking at the ssl 1, fender 57/62 pickups

I know firsthand that surfers and texas hots are opposite polarities of each other, surfers being south and texas hot being north. So before you go combining either of those with texas specials I would suggest find out what polarity texas specials are (I'm thinking north, but not 100% sure). Personally I have a texas hot custom bridge pu in the bridge, a surfer in the mid and a texas hot in the neck. That replaced the 57/62s that were in there and I have been more than pleased with the results (I got my antiquities at 30% off, wymore guitars had a going out of business sale). 57/62s and ssl-1s are also good, but when one has the chance to get antiquities for the same price one gets antiquities (They're signed by Seymour in pen ^^).

Oh, and they are slightly hotter in output then the 57/62s, the custom bridge makes the bridge position equal in volume to the others. They probably would mix in with texas specials, just make sure of the polarity first.

that makes alot of sense, that is why when i mixed the texas specials neck and mid with the am stdrd bridge stock pickup, i got a horrible nasally midrange thing, that really sucked.

yup, to further prove to myself, the ts neck and mid atratct to each other.
the ts neck repels from middle of std pu
mid ts repels from bridge stock am std pickup.

goes to show, either ts are north polarity and am std south polarity.
