Texas Specials! I knew there was something I liked about this strat. I like it even more considering what I picked it up for. I'm thinking about replacing the tremolo block with a Callaham and I think that's all the mods this baby will need.

Is there any way to find out what kind of pups I have without removing the pickguard?

Not really. I loosened the strings and took the screws out of the guard and lifted it up until I could see that it didn't have magnets on the bottom of the pickup like a ceramic. Then I saw the Custom Shop sticker. It's not that hard to do. I even swapped the misplaced pickups around without taking the strings off.

Image I won this guitar they said it was 2001 custom colour. I was hopping it was only one of that year that had this colour. How do you know what colours they painted for each year? I have looked online and I havent seen this colour on any others. It is new never played 2001 acording to the serial number. Also its metalflake you can see it better in the light.

Fender can give you that information if you mail them the serial number. I'm not sure what address to send it to, though.

Unfortunately I forgot to ask them to check the pick ups :(

And yes, I would definatley reccomend putting the orange DR's on beacuse:
1) Can't tell there even is a coating.
2) They sound like regular stock strings.
3) Just ridiculous on the flames. Epic.

I happened on this one completely by accident. I had a Parker P36 that I had on Craigslist and was looking for a trade on a Lone Star strat. The guy who had the flamey strat was the only person who responded. We met up in Nashville and traded guitars. I like the look too, but I know it's not for everyone. I'm going to hang on to this one. It plays great, sounds fantastic, and I like that it doesn't look like anything else out there.

With the large rout under the bridge pickup, I'm thinking about buying another pickguard and loading it HSS just for something different. Those Texas Specials really cook, though.

It can be fitted for a Humbucker?

Yeah, the body is already routed for one. I was going to buy a new pickguard and load it with a Pearly Gates bucker and a couple of Texas Specials, something like a Lonestar strat.

That's just epic!

I'll have to look into putting one in when I have the money! Then again, that would be "un-stocking" my only stock strat. (that thread makes me think twice....... :P)
