As the title states, I just got my brand new Fender classic players 50's strat (SG) from the "fiend" yesterday, the box looked factory fresh, no tape, tight staples and the adheasive was strong... however after taking the guitar out of the gigbag, the only other accesories were the bag straps. No trem arm, no adjustment keys, no instructions for the locking tuners, warranty registration etc....the plastic was on the front with the red sticker and two hang tags. thats it....

Musicians fiend said they would send me a generic arm, but A) will that even fit? Is it an import version of an american bridge or is it an an american two point bridge? B) it wont look right as all the other plastics aside from the guard are "aged"...

So, what should have I gotten in a brand new boxed instrument and how do I get the exact missing parts from fender?

I'm 99.9999% certain I havent missed anything, I completely sifted through the large shipping box, took everything out of the guitar box and unfolded and inspected every piece for a taped on bag etc, completely unfolded the foam wrapper, went through every pocket on the bacg abd did several full "pat down" tests, also scanned the whole area I was in with a flashligh several times in case they were dropped...even searched youtube for unboxing vids, no luck for my model

Thanks guys, also advice on how the tuners work would be awesome...cant seem to find much aside from some very poorly done vids. Noy ready to give a report on the guitar yet, shipping delyas and now the missing items have kinda given me a sour taste...right now she feels kinda stiff and sounds kinda dull...but thats straight out of the box.

Good luck!

After one too many similiar experiences, I'd rather try then buy and carry it home, even if it means travelling quite a distance (which I did not long ago!)

Hi iceman0124: I don't know how much case candy is meant to come with a Classic Player and I think it is a legit question to put in an email to Fender Customer Service: consumerrelations@fender.com . Remember to ask them the part number for the correct trem arm for that bridge, which as you observe is different to the usual Made In Mexico models.

Whatever else is missing EVERY new Strat is meant to come with a trem arm, so you need that sorted at the very least. We don't want to ship a guitar back just for the sake of a couple of allen keys, but if you get a list of what you're lacking from Customer Service then you'll know what to ask the shop to send on over.

Good luck - C

From reading the spec sheet, all your missing is the trem arm and allen key.

http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/search.php?partno=0141102303

I didn't get a strap or any of the literature that clutters up the packaging with my Baja tele, which is also part of the Classic Player series. The warranty registration card is meaningless, just register it online.
As for your pickups, yes their supposed to be like that.

Your missing allen key and trem arm is a puzzler though. You only get one allen key for the saddle adjustment. The trussrod adjustment is a screw type. So I'd start by carefully looking through that gigbag. The allen key for my tele was in there, it took a week to find it.
As for the trem arm, you want a direct fender replacement for the 2 point vintage style trem. Let them worry about size.

If the guitar box arrived unopened as you state, I don't think you have a leg to stand on claiming it to be used guitar sold new. How did they get it out the packaging for one? Them boxes are made to tear apart. It's obvious if the thing has been opened before, you can't really reseal em.

With my Lite Ash Tele I didn't get a strap, a gig bag - or even a cardboard box! I carried that thing out the shop naked, under my arm. :D (The guitar was the one that was naked, obviously; not me...)

If the guitar is good I wouldn't send it back for the sake of an allen key. If the guitar is not good then no amount of case candy should make you keep it.

The guitar is the bit that counts.

Cheers - C

The allen key and trem arm (and the pathetic instruction booklet), for mine, were in one of the pockets in the Gig bag. If you didn't get a gig bag, that's where they should be.

The gig bag is of good quality, and not cheap. Why didn't you get one? You paid for it.

Absolutely. If the guitar is right, why risk loosing it for one that may be less right. Let the shop worry about the arm and allen key.

As for walking out the shop with the guitar, theres a lot to be said for it. I often wonder if in the days before internet shopping became so rife. Whether complaints were as many. Surely the real duffers were all left on the shelf.

He did. The first post says the guitar came in its gig bag.

After some verbal arm twisting I'm getting an advanced RMA, once my return shows up in the UPS system I'm getting a new one shipped 2-day.... the tone control issues (both controls effect all three pups) and overal dull lifeless sound (using a Marshall Class 5 and a USA made Palamino V16) warrant me to be absolutely sure they dont send me the same one back.
