Hi.

I just got a brand new YJM stratocaster which plays great, it's an incredible guitar to play on and I just love it.
The thing is it gets out of tune like every 5 minute, not even that. If I just touch the whammy bar it gets completely of out tune. Anyone knows why?

It's really annoying and sad cause it's a new guitar.

Thanks

If the strings are new you just need to stretch 'em a bit and retune... who put the strings on? Maybe it wasn't done right. Can you post a closeup pic of the headstock?

I tried, but don't know if it's too good.

I suppose Fender put them on as I got it straight from Fender in Sweden.

Pic is not that clear but it looks normal... is this your first guitar? Sorry for asking this, just making sure. I would just bend each string to stretch them then retune. If the problem continues I would change the strings before troubleshooting any further.

It might be worth taking it for a complete set-up as well - some dealers throw in a set-up when you buy a new guitar. Just because it is straight from the distributor it doesn't mean that it's set up right - Fender's factory set-ups are okay, but they don't necessarily get the trem to work perfectly. Also the guitar had to make it from the warm climate of Southern California to the cold climate of Sweden and I'm sure the shipping companies bounced it around a bit along the way which will impact the set-up.

+1. New guitars end up to a guitar center with a generic set up from the manufacture. Sometimes they might also have been played for months by eventual customers and the "new" strings that they come up with might be dead. So when you buy a guitar, you should have it set up and re-stringed before you bring it home. And have it rechecked once the guitar got the chance to fit in with the new weather conditions at your home or studio. Some guitar centers will insist that you first play the guitar at home for some time before their final set up. It's just another way of doing the right thing. Good luck.

+1 on all,

I surmise it is a scalloped neck which will also allow you to depress the strings more, my guess also would be to have the trem checked, it may also be the strings are binding at the contact points of saddle as well as where they exit the body thru the bridge but below the saddle.

I think it has something to do with the trem as well. Cause when I just touch the trem bar it gets out of tune. Even when I bend the strings it gets out of tune, especially B and the high e string.

You will get plenty of good advice here, so I wont offer anything you have not already heard.

I would like to see some pictures of your new guitar however. Body, headstock, and specifically the neck.

TIA

The tuning issues could be any of a number of things from slack string winds, binding at the nut, string trees or bridge, strings not pre-stretched enough, worn or fatigued strings or poor trem bar set up.After you change and pre-stretch the strings lubricate the string contact points with graphite from a lead pencil or with a product like Big Bends Nut Sauce. If none of these work the problem is most likely the trem setup-most likely the spring tension.
