hi all,i have just bought a late 80`s japanese strat and it has the cheapest and nastiest looking singleply white scratchplate on it,i notice it only has 8 screw holes in it instead of the regular 11,does this mean a modern replacement will fit with a few extra holes drilled in the body or is it a slightly different shape and will not fit anyway?

youll have to drill extra holes. its messy and i dont recommend it. the end holes at the top and bottom allign, but the holes on the left and right dont allign at all.
