Well the earlier Lace Pickups had 2 wires, a white and an orange wire. Later they added a green ground wire, probably about 92-93. I don't think I've seen a 99 plus, they were phasing them out about then for the deluxes that came with noiseless pickups, but I'm sure a few plus guitars came out that year.

I think the N9 serial numbers are one of the ones that's kind of confusing because it could mean a few different years. What type of rollernut is on it? Is it a Wilkinson? or the LSR? If it is really a 99, it should be the LSR, if it's a Wilkinson, then that would be about the same years as the Lace pickups with the 2 wires.

most strat pluses came with the gold series pups
ultras and deluxes had combos of different colors
colors referring to the Lace imprint on the pups and the power of the pups
not sure what you are referring to about the wires

So any pictures of the nut? Thats the main indicator

Looking at that swimmingpool route, I'd strongly suspect it to be a early 90's rather than a late 90's.

It could be a 91 as N9 serials were for some reason put on a lot of the Fender guitars at that time.

What year did Fender start putting the serial numbers on the back of the headstock?

Yep, it's a circa 1990/1991 Strat Plus; that's when Fender had a mix-up and used some N9XXXXX serial number decals instead of N0XXXXX or N1XXXXX decals.

They moved to the back of the headstock circa 1995 (and the logo changed to the vintage style "spaghetti" logo at that time as well).
