I just bought a lefty American Stantard Strat after dream for a long time with this guitar. I love the tone and sound quality. the case is really good, also all asesories like the strap, cable etc.

This is my first fender American Strat but I am just wondering what is the real different between this new model and the former American Strat ?

Do they will keep doing the Standard (mex model) or not anymore?

Thanks

The sound is the same as previous model, and only $50.00 more from the previous model. The new standard strat feels a little different, the neck is a little thicker from what I have observed.

Funny you mention the neck. I've not read where there were any changes to the neck size, but I thought it felt a litter bigger too. Just figured it was my imagination working overtime.

I also played it next to an American Series and although they're supposed to have the same p/u's, etc. I felt is sounded a little different too. More sustain and a sweeter in the upper treble region. Both had maple necks/fb's.

My ears could could very well being playing tricks on me though. I also thought that RW FB's were supposed to have darker sound, but to my ears they sounded brighter than the maple. Go figure.

To the original poster, the differences are fb/hs finish, two point tremelo with stamped metal saddles, different (thinner) undercoat finish and a better case.

The relaase of the new Amercan Standard does not effect the Standard as far as I know. Plenty of Mex Standards to be had.

Before this new am. standard, I have always thought that american series are build from 3 pieces of wood. Now when I look at the picture of the manufacturing process in the Fender website,it could be seen that the body is actually a 4 piece. So can anybody confirm that the old american strats were 3 piece or 2 piece even ? Would there be a sound quality difference about the number of pieces in a body ?

Looking over my strats, all without question are made of three pieces of wood.

Thanks all of you guys that replied to my original question...I just start playing the Am Standard Strat and I will post my opinion soon about the sound quality soon.

However I ma just wondering if the real different in sound & tone quality is due to the bridge ?
