My pinky is what controls the knobs...it's very well behaved. :)

I just noticed that Mark Knopfler used to have an issue with the vol knob too. I was watching Alchemy Live, I believe these guitars were Schecters, with only 2 knobs, but even on his Strats he moved the vol knob or did something weird with it, because of his finger picking style.

Maybe you can have a pickguard similar to what was on these Schecter Strats...

I modded mine to be similar. It used to be the "super-strat" setup with 3-way switches. But I didn't use all of those different options. Now I have 2-ways in their place just to turn the pickups on or off.

I hate bumping the volume knob and accidentally turning down the guitar in the middle of a gig. I would do it only once every few gigs, but it really made me mad. Then a friend of mine suggested I pull the volume control knob off. That fixed that!

Anybody else have a solution to a typical "operator error" ?

I did the same thing.

Then I missed some chords a few times, so I took the neck and strings off.

Then I started hitting the pickups with the pick once in a while, so I took the pickups out.

But other than that, everything is fine.

Seems like if you just controlled your hands or just changed the place your where starting your strum you would have been ok

...I sometimes use a sweat band to keep my tele from cutting into my arm... :oops:

On my strat, I usually keep my hand on the bridge when I do my picking, and my strumming stays somewhere in the middle (can depend on what I want it to sound like).

This may seem kind of strange, but one factor that tend to think about when trying guitars is how comfortable my hand sits on the guitar. I hate sharp bridges... :x

Everyone is telling you to control your hands, I disagree completely. I think this is a design flaw. I personally am going to get a new pickguard from warmoth.com with the volume know moved out of the way.

Well, there are times when a musician must accept his limitations. I'm playing gigs and people are listening. Do I risk hitting the volume knob while I learn to "control my hand" or do I pull off the volume knob to ensure there is one less thing to go wrong? {rhetorical--I've already chosen my answer}

I assume that my bandmates prefer I pull off the volume knob. We want the music to sound good--even if we have to use crutches.
