Do the music shops carry the Callaham Block? Like Guitar Center? Or do I have to order it online?

I don't know if any shops carry them, there are online stores that sell Callaham parts, or order direct from Callaham. :)

GC doesn't carry any that I know of... but before you replace your block I would give the strings a try. If you have these mini screwdrivers (for eyeglasses) you can also use one to push the string end out, I've used it in the past.

I just take the end of the low E or A string that I removed and push if through from the top. Has always worked for me.

I found the one I need. Do I have to get a tremelo arm too? Or will mine screw into the upgraded Callaham steel block for Am Standards? I've been wanting one of these so I'm gonna go ahead and get it. Need to know about the arm threads though. Thanks shimmilou. I appreciate the help. And to everybody else too. Thanks for all your responses EVERYONE!!! :)

The Am Std arm (10-32 threads) will work with all Callaham blocks. The Mex Stds and other metric threaded arms will not work. All of the Callaham blocks require the 10-32 threaded arms, even the ones for the Mex and Japanese Strats. The Callaham arms come in three different lengths also, I have tried all three and I like the "64" the best, it just seems like the right length. I thought that the "Gilmore Length" would be neat, but it feels too stiff as it has less leverage than the "64". :)

As a simple solution to your problem, a new Callaham Block is very extravagant..

But you're going to love the improvements it'll make to that guitar's tone and sustain!

No love for the Brass blocks?

anyone have experience with them?

http://www.killerguitarcomponents.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=10&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53

or even cheaper

http://www.guitarfetish.com/Solid-Brass-Upgrade-Tremolo-Blocks-_c_220.html

I guess they say that the bass really gives a great sound, since Bell's are made form brass

I had this happen to me earlier today with a set of D'Addarios. Trying to use the cut off end of the old low E string didn't work, it just wouldn't push them through. I ended up using a spare pushbike spoke I had on the shelf. I'm about to re-string with Super Bullets so I'm curious how they'll be when it's their turn to get changed...

maybe switch to fender bullets for the means time, they may not get stuck since they are not your typical round loop end

The real way round the problem! The string made for the trem!

Toothpicks here when I can't get a string out of someone elses guitar.

I use the appropriate sized Allen wrench. Works great and it's already in the tool box.
