I'm looking for an absolutely flawless pickguard replacement for my 2010 American Standard Stratocaster HSS. I'm wanting the pickguard to be an H (drop the SS holes), have no toggle switch and two holes for knobs (one for volume and one for tone). I'm wanting the knob holes to be the bottom two, not the top two (I don't want the knobs too close to the strings).

The pickguard should be a three-ply. I do not want white, white...the pickguard that is on my guitar is kind of an off-white...it's quite beautiful.

Is this something I can get directly from Fender via a phone call or do I need to go elsewhere? If the color of the pickguard is not spot on then it's a total deal breaker for me...this is the main reason I'm worried about getting the pickguard from anywhere but Fender.

I'm kind of surprised that Fender doesn't offer this kind of thing directly in their store.

later...Cliffy

Hi Cliffy: first, take a look at the humbucker-only pickguards on this page and see if you find the one you want:

http://www.wdmusic.com/pickguard_stz_200.html

If not, read what they have to say on this page about having custom pickguards made to order:

http://www.wdmusic.com/pickguards.html

Any further difficulties, let us know. There's further answers to this issue.

Cheers - C

Well, yeah...the knob holes on those you linked are in the wrong place (I want two knob holes...the middle and the bottom...I don't want the top as is shown on each of those you linked.

My biggest concern with going with a non-Fender made replacement, though, is the color. Is the "white" used with the tree-ply WD replacement a true white, or is the vintage white, which is more of an off-white, as is used by Fender?

Soaking your white pickguard in a pan of black coffee for 24 hours will give you that smokey bar vintage white that people love, and it's more authentic looking the the aged stuff you can buy. just my 2 cents

No smoking in bars anymore, at least here in Canada. Won't get no vintage white with no smoke.

Hi again Cliff: did you read the second part of my post? The bit about how WD Music will custom make you a pickguard from any material you wish, any color you like and with any configuration of pickup routes and control holes you require?

The answer you need lies there.

Yep...I know that WD can get me the proper cut...it's the color of white I'm worried about. The white pickguard on the 2010 American Standards isn't a true white...it's kind of an off white. I like it...I don't want true white. Does WD have the same color "white" that Fender is using?

Worst case scenario, though, is that I simply go with the WD and then buy replacement knobs to match the new pickguard.

It's just...I REALLY like the color of the Fender pickguards!

Freaking awesome! Parchment seems to be the color I'm looking for. Does anyone have a 2010 American Standard Strat who can verify the color of the pickguard and knobs? Are they parchment?

Thanks so much, HemiRam, for that link!

Hi once again Cliff: all you have told us so far is that your pickguard is "kind of an off-white...". Fender has several "kind of off-whites" and there are a few more non-Fender ones out there, so that is a little vague. However, I bet what you have is the color Fender call "Parchment". I can't know that for certain because your guitar is several thousand miles away: you are going to have to work it out for yourself. But I bet it's Parchment.

Erm, are you looking at the links I've given you? If so, you will not only have seen that WD Music (amongst others) can custom CNC cut a pickguard to your exact specifications, you will also have noticed that they have at least three different parchment plastics to choose from, including the three-ply that I expect will be the match for yours. Take a look around that website.

Parchment is a very nice color. If that's what you've got then I understand why you want to keep it that shade.

You now have absolutely all the information you can possibly need for this simple task. I know you'll be keen to thank me, and then get on ordering your new pickguard.

Good luck - C

EDIT: oops, while I was writing this you seem to have ID'd the parchment yourself. Well done.
