Hi Guys,
Im new here but have a question I would appreciate an answer to !

I am looking at buying a Classic 60's Stratocaster in Olympic White with a serial number of MZ7192957.
It all looks genuine but I thought Fender had stopped making this model in Olympic White by 2007 ?
Guitar Blue Book lists Olympic White as a discontinued colour but doesnt say when ?

I dont want to find I have purchased a classic 60's neck bolted to somthing else ....
Dont want to be ripped of at Christmas time.

Only Olympic whites I have seen are the road worn version, anyone have a classic 60's Strat MIM from 2007 in Olympic White ??

Thanks all and Happy Christmas ! :)

Insist on taking a peek "under the hood". With the pickguard removed you should be looking at an alder body with traditional S/S/S pickup routs and a control cavity with a "shoulder" at the bottom (to accommodate one of the eleven pickguard screws). The bridge should be the vintage type with 2-7/32" string spacing and the block should be full-size and fabricated of zinc. Tuners will be "vintage style" Pings or Gotohs and a single butterfly string tree will be fitted.

Any deviations from this and you should walk away.

Also bear this in mind. Just cause 2007 rolled around doesn't mean that Fender tossed out all the left over stock of white bodies. I'm sure they stopped making them in this color, but I'm also sure they would have used up what stock was left over. Also, it could be a legit guitar, being that the body and neck of any Fender will rarely be made the same day, week, or within the same month, so you could have a 2006 year body bolted to a 2007 neck from the factory. If the body feels the right weight and doesn't appear odd for a Classic Series Strat, I wouldn't worry. I have 2 of these guitars and I love them!

Quite correct, Steve!

End-of-year anomalies are part and parcel of the Fender "mystique".
