I am sorry if this question has been ask before but I am new to this site so here goes.

I bought some Samarium Cobalt Nosieless pickups today for my 2004 (Mexican) Standard Strat to try and upgrade it a bit. The person in the Guitar Store told me that they would work in the model with no problem. The only thing in the box was the 3 single coil pickups with wires.

On my old pickups there were only 2 wires coming from the stock pickups. With the new pickups I have an additional wire that makes 3 coming from the new Samariums. Will these pickups not work with the switch and pots that I currently have that were stock on this guitar or do I need to also replace the knobs and switch?

Any help is appreciated.

There should be some wiring directions with the pickups. But yeah, they'll work.

That's part of the problem. There was nothing in the box at all. No directions, information on wiring or even as much as a registration card! The diagrams online are mostly without the 3rd wire...

NK = Black, Green and White
MD = Black, Green and Yellow
BR = Black, Green and Red

The black I think is the ground and white, yellow and red possible go to the switch but it's the green that is the mystery.

Here's a pic of the wiring for the SCN pups. Looks like the black and green are ground and the white, yellow and red are hot.

Great diagram. I'm not much of an electrician so why the two grounds?

The third wire is for use with the S1 switch.
