i was thinking all the guitars that was made in Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan) until ´98 (i think) will be next vintage guitars? Like for example Reissue or Artist series from that time (and some standard too). I mean Vintage in the way of quality of the wood, contruction, special models, etc. because Fujigen reputation and the way that those guitars never will be produced again (except for CIJ instruments by other corporation).
we know all the fenders that came from that time from Japan (in special Ri and artist) are great instruments (except for the pups in some models...but that is an opinion)....what you think?

thanks for read this and sorry for my average english.

Yeah, I see the MIJ's being more collectable over time. They made some sweet guitars.

At one time the MIJ's were supposed to be better than the USA models. So it is possible.

I love my 1986 Fender MIJ '72RI 3 bolt neck Strat.

I have an 89 MIJ 50's reissue hardtail. It looks just like a 54. I got it after playing one that belongs to a great bluesman, Lloyd Jones. No relationship. http://www.blindpigrecords.com/index.cf ... rtistid=32

Over the past month I've been looking at buying a new strat and have been playing them all, custom shop master built, you name it I played it. I finally decided to just put new pups on mine because it plays really sweet.

I too own a nice MIJ Stratocaster. It is a 72 RI Pink paisley Stratocaster. It is a 1984-87. It has a maple neck. I replaced the pick-ups when I bought it new in 1988. I put in a set of EMG-SA active single coils. This guitar is probably my favorite. In terms of feel and comfort, it rivals my USA Strat. With the EMG pups, it sounds really nice. I am glad to see the values of these guitars going up. These are fine international guitars.
I mean really, I have Strats from USA, Japan, Mexico, Indonesia. It truly is an international product.

I love the MIJ/CIJ reissues-not only for sound and playability, but the workmanship. I don't want to write an essay, but I see a lot of sketchy information out on the web and eBay about them, too. Fender needs to put out a Fender Japan book! There probably are books out about them in Japan, but that's only really helpful if you can read Japanese.

I have two MIJ '67 Strat RIs, and one CIJ '67 Strat RI (all advertised by Fender in the U.S. as '68 RIs). The MIJs have basswood bodies and flat pole pickups, where the CIJ has a ash body and staggered pickups-otherwise the specs are the same. and they're all stock. I like them all equally, they're keepers!

It's hard to actually show 'quality' to someone, but here is a good example-I have four MIJ '72 Tele Thinline RIs (yes, I know that this is a Strat forum), and not only does the front of the body match the back, but the sides match-EXACTLY. In other words, they cut the back from the body, routed it out, and put it back on exactly as it was cut! I don't think you'll find that on a Made In Mexico model, or even on U.S. made models! I haven't seen one yet, anyway. Perhaps I just got lucky!

hi, first thanks for the answer to all!...second well i don´t know if there is luck in Fender MIJ guitars...all these instruments are just great. Every single Ri model are incredible. They really put attention the the body specs, color and cut in the wood. You can find the single "pup" cut in the wood like there was made in the past in those models. there are models more beatiful than others...but every single one are just great.
every one that got a MIJ fender Knows what they got in their hands.

again thanks for read this.

I have CIJ Strat 1957 RI. I compared it with americans and mexicans and it sounded better. Craftsmanship was incredible. Actually there is no difference between MIJ and CIJ. Amers better equiped but wood work is better on japanese.

I had a CIJ 62 RI... the neck was all out of alignment. I tried it on another body (USA) and it was even worse. Strings didn't line up right along the edge of the fingerboard. I was playable if I made the saddles all crooked. It played ok, but not worth holding onto to. I was disappointed.

Mine is a 96 MIJ 62 Reissue. She's great. The production quality is great and the pickups are great too. Cant find anything bad about it.
