I bought a used Strat the serial is N7215687, it is black and has 3 single coils. It has the made in USA on the front of the headstock and fender 4 bolt plate at the back

-it looks exactly like a Standard except it has a floyd rose/fender locking bridge

-I thought it might be a strat plus/deluxe cause its the same bridge however there is no locking nut nor locking tuners. Also those models have those lace sensor pickups, mine does not.

What model is it?

you'll have to excuse my not knowing how to post picks on here

You will need an account from some photo hosting site (like photobucket.com) to post a photo on the site. And a photo would be really helpful in figuring out what you have.

Based on the description - I can offer that it could be an American Standard that someone modded with the Fender/Floyd Rose trem; that bridge is a drop-in replacement for the regular Fender 2-post American Standard trem.

Here are pics of the guitar I just picked up

If it is a modded standard, is that going to decrease the value down the road?

I dont understand why there would be a floyed with no locking nut or tuners

Hi.

Thank you for the pictures, you have a 1998 Fender stratocaster deluxe, and it is the stock tremolo.

Here is another one on e-bay.....

Hey Jeffytune

I have read that the deluxe HSS had them for a few years but mine looks like a Standard. I'm thinking now the bridge was an add on. I hope this dosnt affect the value. Still sounds awsome

Does yours have the locking nut and tuners?

By the way nice HOG

After seeing the photos my guess stands - American Standard that someone added the Fender/Floyd Rose bridge to at some point down the line. Nice guitar; looks to be in good shape for a '97.

I can see what you mean John. Look at the polepieces on the ebay Deluxe. They are staggered and have beveled tops, like the vintage noiseless pickups. The OP's guitar looks to have a flat height, standard polepieces.

Not that it couldn't be a pickup change. Was the deluxe introduced with Vintage Noiseless pickups? Also the lack of abalone dots on the OP's fretboard. Did the first Deluxes feature that? I ask because I don't know.

Does anyone know if it is possible to buy a 97/98 Std. Strat bridge? If so where?

I guess it is but if I decide to keep it a long time it's better to have all original (even though it won't be) who will know

Plus there's no locking tuners or nut so it's kind of pointless, is it not?

No not at all, just get it set up properly. Locking tuners are a speed/ease improvment, rather than a tuning stability improvment in my experience.
You can get any tuner to offer similar stablity once you know how to wind strings onto em.
You'll still suffer the bad stability issues of the strings getting stuck at the bridge with a standard trem. Though once again in my experience that is a very minor problem on a well set bridge.
That trem pretty much negates those problems by locking the string into the saddle. That is also it's only relationship to the metal style FloydRose systems we see around.

Myself, I'd just enjoy it.
If your keeping the guitar, keep it on. I really wouldn't worry about it, especialy when you consider that no one has conclusively said it's a mod. Fender were producing a lot of different guitars in the same vein in them days. The Standard, the Plus, Deluxe, all within a few months of each other.
If your lucky and posted the serial no'. The ever knowledgable Mr Rob Schwarz may look it up for you if he has chance. Or you could email customer services (sites top toolbar. Support>Contact for email address) and they'll give all the info you need. I wouldn't expect a answer till after the holidays though.

Ya maybe I'll have it looked up.

Your right though, I shouldn't worry about it as the guitar plays great and sounds awesome

Thanks for all the input

niki - the first American Deluxes came out in 1998. They had the abalone dots (and the raised chrome headstock decal) and they did have the Vintage Noiseless pickups (it looks like the "Noiseless" script has been worn off on the teal green one pictured in this thread).

That "Fender/Floyd Rose" bridge was sold as an aftermarket replacement; it looks like that is all that is changed on the OPs guitar.

To the OP - if you wanted to go back to the regular bridge you should be able to still find them as replacement parts; the bridge was used unchanged from 1986 through 2007. Fender might be calling it the "Amercian Series" bridge since the current model went back to the "American Standard" name. Also, any of the Fender Locking Tuners would be a drop-in replacement for the standard tuners if you want to go with locking tuners.

This is what the American Standard, or it may have been American Series would have had on it at that time.

Personally I prefer your current trem.
