Greetings all,

Quick question for the Stratocaster experts~

I brought home a really nice sunburst Strat this past weekend. I’m told it’s a leftover “first-gen” Highway One model from 2004.

Try as I might, I can’t find any information about pre-2006 Highway One series Stratocasters. 2006 models were upgraded with different pickups, tone circuit, & 70’s style headstock.

What were the details of the pre-2006 models? Pickups, finish, bridge, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks~

~TT

BTW; its a wonderful playing, sounding, well built guitar. If your in the market, this one is worth considering...

2004 Catalogue says it has 3 Classic Singlecoil pickups and Synchronized Tremolo. All the finished were translucent that year atleast.

The first gen Hwy 1's had medium jumbo frets, acrylic lacquer finish on the body (not nitro), pickups and tone controls the same as the 50's, 60's, 70's MIM Classic Series, same bridge (again from the MIM Classic Series) and tuners the current version. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

All the info can be found on this site. Take a look at the part numbers of the components of the first gen Hwy 1 and compare them to a Classic Series Strat to see how many parts they shared. Proof of same bridge, pickups, etc.

I have a 2004 HSS and it plays like a dream :)

It has an extremely thin natural finish and 70s styling, a huge headstock just like the upgrades

I played several of the SSS versions at the time and the finish seemed a little thicker but still very thin, the fret wire was much thinner than the upgrade jumbos.
