The model isn't specified and I can't identify what model it is, or whether it is a genuine MIA. Seems a bit cheap if it is.

That's a lot of mods on what claims to be a 2010 guitar; seems odd to put that much work in and then sell so soon. And I'd be wary of that much modding unless it can be proved it was done by someone who knew what they were doing.

Also I thought only Custom Shop guitars had nitro paint jobs these days.

I'd have a lot of questions for this seller.

It's a Highway1 with locking tuners and a singlecoil sized humbucker.
A good guitar.

Whether it is worth the $700 asking price, I don't know. I don't know US used prices. Personaly I'd find out the going rate for a stock used Highway1, then offer him $50 less than that. The guitar is not original after all. You don't have to tell the seller that you like the mods do you?

That SSS configuration threw me a bit. Why go to the trouble of modding from HSS to SSS when the original buyer could have got a SSS config Hwy 1 to start with?

Maybe he just liked the colour.

Musician's Friend has them listed for $699 but it comes with a gigbag not a hscProbably not a bad price if you want those mod's. He probably paid closer to retail of $999 if he got at a local store not one like Guitar Center. Stil I'd barter with him if you like it.

It's a highway 1 and worth $500 tops IMO.

Perhaps like me, he prefers the look of SSS, but wants the sound of HSS.
In other words, were quirky sod's.

Understood, but what I meant was he could have got a SSS Hwy 1 and installed the single coil sized humbucker without having to go to the trouble of replacing the pickguard.

Perhaps he bought the HSS thinking he'd like the humbucker in it, then decided he didn't. Thought ok £80 for a new bucker or £20 for a SSS scratchplate and this humbucker I have in the cupboard.
People mod guitars for all kinds of reasons. I've a MIM that I put Vintage Noiseless in. Decided I didn't like them, but did like the Clapton guitar sound. So put a midboost in. Then decided I'd throw some old pickup I had kicking around in it, then put 2 humbuckers on it. Then SCN's. And don't even ask what I went through on nut's.
People mod guitars, parts get passed onto others. I really see nothing untoward about this one, except maybe the price. I defer to BlackCatBone's better judgment on prices in the US. Cos frankly, I just don't know. If Highway's sell for $500 average, offer him that for it. Maintain that the swapped parts are not an improvment on a stock Highway1 and you shouldn't have to pay more for them.
I'm a hard faced Bstard with guitar buying. Their like busses, another will be along in five minutes. Particularly in this day and age.

It's a Hwy 1, and I think the reason he got it, as he said he hand picked it. My guess would be this one (At least in his hands) felt the best and he planed to Mod it all along so the H-S-S vs the S-S-S never came into it.

I would be very curious as to why after all these mods and being so new is he selling it at all?

Been there done that too many times. If I had back all the gear I sold because of bills or feeding the kid's or some other emergency I could stock a small music store. Unfortunately my music gear was the only things I owned worth anything. Life's better now but I still kick myself every once in a while
