So if anyone knows my story i bought a guitar online, it came in a g and g case, on of the latches did no open so i finally broke it open. Any case the guys i bought it from will only give me 50 bucks to cover the case and the case i have is worth 150 bucks. So i decided to take their money, and just buy a new latch and install it. Has anyone ever done this at home or not where would i go to do this?

I don't have any specific knowlege of your case or latch, but would pop-rivets fix it? Maybe drill out the old rivets, and replace with a simple pop rivet gun? Either way best of luck fixing it.

A luggage repair place can help you out.

The Cheney latches are installed with tinman rivets which will need to be drilled out to remove. You'll usually find Cheney hardware on Ebay for reasonable $$$.

How did you break the latch open? Did you try other options first? I would have messed around with a small flat screw driver for a bit. Those things should be maneuverable.

Anyways, I have no idea as to how to replace that myself.

i tried everything, i went to a lock smith who said pretty much all i can do is break it open and you can do it at home with a hammer or i can charge you 20 bucks to do it.
