I have some squiers that I intend to store for a while. Is it best to leave strings on them or off.

Strings on to keep tension on the neck. Guitars like to keep their strings on whether being played or not.

What you really need to worry about it don't store them in a place that you be uncomfortable: too hot or cold, humid, or extreme temperature changes.

Strings on at concert pitch, or whatever you tune to.
A friend of mine in the know told me to tune down a whole tone. So EADGBE to DGCFAD. If your storing your guitar for years and not going to touch it.
No reason to doubt either method. I've a couple of guitars stored that havent been seen in years. I don't see how the thing being in the case for a couple of years at a time, tuned to concert pitch is any different from it being on a stand and played once in a while.
Their made to be at concert pitch. Likewise my friend has never given me bad advice yet.

strings help keep the tension on the neck. That why you shouldnt cut all the strings at once while changing strings
