I just aquired a MIM strat from my buddy. It's been sitting in his closet since i'm sure '99. Nicely aged. Fender logo on the headstock is gold and just says Fender, Stratocaster in black. Serial # is on the back tip of the headstock #MN779247. Vintage style tuners. Looks like a rosewood fretboard or maybe a lighter wood. Cream colored, heavy body. S/S/H Six screws in the bridge and fender stamped on the saddles. White 3ply pickguard. Any more info on this model ? Any questions just ask. Thank for any info. Cheers

Does it have a volume, tone, and a mini-toggle on the pickguard (the mini-toggle in the postion normally occupied by the second tone control)?

If so, the it could be an MIM Stratocaster Special. These were only made for a couple of years circa 1996/97 and were the predicessor of the MIM "Deluxe" series.

No it doesn't. I must say the finish work on the neck is near perfect. Defently not mex quality. American quality, nice finished fret ends, headstock is smooth and finished. The body color is a cream, aged, it's almost yellow. It says its MIM but its as good as my hot rodded american strat. I wonder if it's a lone star ? I just dont know

I know for a fact that everything is original. Not sure how to post pics. Dont know if neck serials would be useful if there are any.

No, in 1997 Lone Stars were USA models (basically an American Standard with different pickups).

To post photos you would need a free acount at some place like photobucket.com. Just upload and then you can post from there (althought this board has odd software and you will need to use the "Img" button at the top of the "post a reply" window).
