Recently bought a new American Standard Strat. Really loving it except that after a day or two I noticed some strong fret buzz on the A and D strings. I don't think it was there before, but I'm not 100% sure because I played it in a loud store through an amp.

If it was not buzzing when I got it, would it be normal for buzzing to start due to taking it out of the store and into my apartment? It's winter so I have the heat on in the house, would that affect anything?

I don't mind taking it in for a setup, but I'm a bit nervous about it having a bad neck or something more serious.

Thanks for the help.

A luthier friend told me years back that guitar/wood instruments are kept at 22C in the shop. Shop floor is kept at that temperature too it being optimal temperature..
If there is a change in temperature between the shop where you bought the guitar and your home, the body/neck wood could have reacted.
The shop setup may not have been that great in the first place.

The solution
Check the neck relief on the guitar, set that correctly.
Raise the saddles of the offending strings. Turn the grub screws in the saddles half a turn each (one saddle at a time) until the buzz goes. Then move onto the next string.
It's all in your user manual that came with the guitar.

If you don't know how to do it yourself, take it to a tech to get setup properly. Yes, heat/cold/humidity can affect a guitar but its nothing that usually can't be adjusted out.
