I Have a "made in Japan" 88-89 Strat that is in mint condition. I mean not a scratch anywhere. It's Olympic white with all the original harware. Any ideas?
Just a ballpark estimate would be good. Daddys Junky Music in CT said they would give me 100 dollars for it but I can't see letting it go for that.

The following image is not my guitar but it is identical.

If it is a real "made in Japan" 88-89 (should say so on headstock) I'd say between $300 to $500 depending on condition and everything is original. Just a ballpark figure. The 85 models are a little more sought after. Check out completed Ebay auctions to get an idea. We have a member here (CaFeathers) Chet, who is our made in Japan guitar expert. Maybe he'll chime in.

It does say "Made in Japan" on the headstock. Thanks for the response - does anyone ever sell anything on this forum or is that not allowed?

Sorry but selling is not allowed on the forum, unless Brad has changed the rules with this update. I don't think so but you can PM other members now.

I would have to see pics of your Strat.

$300 - $700 depending on the model.

My pleasure. I love seeing these MIJ's show up after all these years.

You should be able to defintely get more than 100 bucks for that guitar. Music stores are only going to offer you 1/4 - 1/3 of the value on average, that way they can actually make a profit on the resale. Selling to a private party may take a little longer, but you will certainly make more selling it that way. If you are in a hurry and need the cash asap...Guitar Center will probably give you more than most small shops if you sell it to them. hth...Tim
