I personally only use Elixir strings. Haven't been experimenting with others though.

Everything worked out great. I put on my 10's and I just had to do a minor intonation adjustment. Gave me more bottom end as well. Thanks everyone for all the great advice. This is a great site.

I play lots of leads, and I have found that the Dean Markley Cryogenic strings are really good, just put them on my Strat about a week ago. Anyone ever played them?

I did and in truth didn't like the way they felt. Though they did sound nice, different but nice. That was years ago, 97/98 I think. Perhaps I should try them again.

Ernie Ball Super Slinkies are my favorites because off all the strings I have tried they seem to stay in tune better. Not sure why, it may even be my imagination, but there you have it.

To echo what some other folks have said, if it plays perfectly, don't change a thing. Having said that, yes, if you put on larger strings, you'll have to adjust the truss rod. Especially if the strings are much larger than "nines." In regards to how large a strings can you install on a strat, I've had 13's on my strat. You can pretty much do anything you want with a strat.

Dude....13's?? Good God.

I just bought my first strat about 3 weeks ago. It came with 9's on it and I've been playing on 10's forever. Truthfully, I like the feel of 10's much better, and I also "feel" like I can squeeze more out of them.

I'm in the same boat though (wanting to go to 10's), but I'm not confident in making any adjustments myself so I'll likely take it to a pro. It's one thing if I only need to tighten the trem claws, but if it also requires a neck adjustment, I don't want to mess with that.

If you think that's think, Dick dale plays a 15-60 set.
