Has anyone played a Lone Star Strat. I was considering buying one but no one has one for me to try. Any opinions?

Hey, I have a 1997 Lone Star (Shorline Gold) maple neck. Its a beautiful guitar, these have always been underated IMO. Impecably made, great tone qualities. It has Texas Specials in the neck and middle with a Seymore Duncan Perley Gates Humbucker in the bridge positon. I play this through a Lone Star Mesa Boogie and its Blues Heaven. It also handles clean and rock very well. A very versitle guitar. But that's what the strats all about anyway right? Even though they have not really appreciated too much is value, god knows why, I would not sell mine its a keeper. I hope this helps with your decision. Good luck. 8)

 Sorry for not metioning that very important piece of infomation, but my Lone Star is American made. 96 was the first year of production and I have a 97. The MIM strats these days are very good. Look at my post under the topic of ( How are the MIM these days). I own 2 MIM strats and 3 American and the two I have are every bit as good as the Americans. The pickups in this 2006 MIM Strat I bought off Ebay are better than anything I have in the Americans including the Humbucker in the Lone Star. Go figure. I think this is an imortant reason for the new face lift on the American Strats. The Mexicans are so good they could not justify the difference in price anymore. 8)

I've played one of the newer MIM Deluxe Lonestar Strats and was very impressed with the sound, feel and quality of it. The Texas Specials and Duncan Pearly Gates Plus pups are a good combo. The one I played was Arctic White w/rosewood and looked as good as it played.
