Oh, OK.

Well, "lickety split" is in fact the right phrase here, as I detect that you realised. Because the guitarist in question was famous for liking banana splits and tended to get them all over his fingers - a bad idea just before going on stage. So that was gooey ice cream residue he had on his hands, not simple dextrose.

Which obviously explains that sticky patch in the second solo.

I hope that clears it all up?
