Hi guys, I have a Strat body that I thought, or still do think, was built in Ensenada. In the neck cavity I found stamped Oct 81 AM with the number V029547. When I removed the pick guard, I found, laminated to the body, just below the controls, a white label with a bar code and just below the bar code was the number M00360650. I am kind of puzzled because I thought "V" in the neck pocket didn't start until the vintage reissues in 1982. I guess my question is, what is the country and year of manufacture?
Thanks
Joe

I doubt that "V" number has anything to do with vintage reissues.

Does the body have holes that look like you could store dimes in them under the pickguard?

Well if that Oct 81 stamp is legit, you can rule out MIM as the Ensenada plant didn't start producing guitars until 1991.

Waiting for pics.

It's not a 81 with a M00360650 barcode.
Ignore the Vxxxxxxx number in there it's likely no more than a productionline number.

As for the OCT 81 writing in the neck pocket, they can be confusing at best. If not something more sinister like lightly sanded then re-written.
