Thank you Guitarist1983 for getting me to dusting off the cobwebs of how & where I got my first electric guitar.

It was 1963, and my mom took me to Sightsinger Music in Santa Ana, CA to buy my b-day gift. I wanted a Strat, but all they had were new ones, and that was out of the question. But they did have a used 1959 Telecaster that mom said was within the budget...but I wanted a Strat. It quickly dawned on me, that for me to leave the store with a guitar, it was going to have to be that Tele...bummer huh???

I still have the receipt...highway robbery...$110 with the case.

I still have her, made my living with her, and retired with her. My wife & daughters tease me that they are going to bury me with her. My son??? He's licking his chops, because he knows it's his, and knows what it is.

THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL TELECASTER, my god! what a stunner that last pic shows the thin skin.... fantastic

My Rig: Guitar into Pedals then into Amps and out into Speakers.

It would have been either 1971 or 1972. It was a Kent Strat copy, opaque red with a rosewood board. No idea what year it was made. Never seen another one since. Never heard anyone talk about one either. I seem to recall there were some issues with it.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

2 days ago... Got my first guitar of any kind - a very lightly used (looks brand new) 2009 Standard Mex-Strat (black). I am 45 and just now trying to teach myself to play guitar - I've been a keyboard guy all these years. I paid $225 for the Strat, which I think was not bad at all.
