Those little plastic wheels are cheap-looking while the Tele's knobs look and feel much nicer. I'm expecting my new Deluxe Player on Monday and would like to change the knobs if it's just a simple swap out. If so, are they a part that most stores would stock? Thanks.

Shouldn't be any problem using Tele knobs on a Strat.

Check on Ebay if you cannot find them locally.

Actually, it depends on whether the knobs are either push-ons for split-shaft knobs or set-screws for solid shaft. On my MIM Strat they are push-ons, I believe that's the same for most Strats. I believe the knobs usually installed on Teles are set-screws, but you can get push-on Tele style knobs, too. You need to make sure you get the right type or they won't work. Try Allparts.

Better to put something in the gap on the shaft before screw telecaster knob.
if you don't do that, knobs come loose and/or break the potentiometer shaft.

For myself I put some light metal pieces, like pieces of brass sheet buy at hobby shop.

Better yet, don't use a knob with a set-screw meant for a solid shaft on a split-shaft knob at all. Just use the right type of knob for the right type of shaft and you'll be OK.

Thanks for all of the advice and especially the link to Allparts. They have some nice (but expensive) gold knobs that will match the guitar.

What concerned me was pot shafts come in a variety of shapes (round, split, ridges, half-moon, taper, etc); and then the height of the Tele knobs might interfere with the trem bar movement. Allparts list the dimensions of their knobs so that should help some.

Your English is not hard to follow, btw.

Merci

Pot shaft for Fender Tele and most copy are solid round and for Fender Stat and most copy are split shaft.

That's it

After that you have this size in American or imported which is little different in diameter.

Here's an American Standard with a pearloid pickguard and dome Tele/P-Bass knobs.

Even Mark Knopfler's famous red Schecter Strat has those knurled beauties on it!
