I tested my dad's bass case, and it fit really well, plus we basically know for a fact that it's durable enough, he's flown with it multiple times. So it'll work unless they drive it over or something nice like that...

why did you wait to the last minute to prep to take your guitar?

Because I just bought the guitar, and I wasn't sure if I going or not. There's been a lot happening lately...sad things. So basically I haven't had time or been able to do it until now.

Ouch, that reminds me of that time I had a replica of a Beretta 94F(s) in my baggage...Oh well. It's pretty fascinating when stuff like that happends, isn't it? :P And at the same time incredibly annoying...

To be fair, I can sort of see that one from the airport's point of view...

GS: Is that the airline that destroyed that guys guitar, he then went and did a youtube song about em that got a gazzilion hits is a week?

It hasn't been mentioned on this thread yet, so just in case there's someone who still hasn't seen it:

Nine and a half million hits. Wow. "All publicity is good publicity..." - are you sure?

well i pray things work out for you for the better.
it might be best you leave you guitar at home this trip
or break it down and pack it.

You're welcome! :D

It's a stylish way to get your own back on the offending airline, ain't it?

Regularly removing the neck for carrying the guitar in hand luggage is what the controversial threaded inserts in neck heels were so often installed for. I've heard of people not even bothering to de-string their guitar; just drop the string tension and whip the neck off. Neat.

I also like the earlier recommendation for waterproof cases. So important if the aircraft comes down in the sea...

I really need to take my guitar with me tho, I will be away for quite a while, and I will not have a lot of time to play it once I get back. And apart from studying the guitar will (just about) be the only hobby I'll be able to practise where I'm going...

So I will call the airline tomorrow and ask them a few questions and forewarn them about it. :P I will also make sure to pack it well, I will try to get hold of some bubble plastic and use some towels. I believe in my good luck (which I hope I will finally experience...).

Thanks a lot tho, guys.

Cheers.

I had a "musicians-gear" tweed case survive about 6 flights before it crapped out. after the second trip i had to use a good ole Dickies belt to strap it closed :/ it looked like crap but it survived. if the latches hadn't broke i would still use it. but since then i use a flight case :D
