Dear Friends,

A child who a while ago started taking guitar lessons from me, brought his electric guitar today for me to see it. It was a gift from the uncle, never played by the child, in a slightly worn condition. I couldn't find out what it is exactly. I'll type the characteristics that I remember and I'd appreciate your help.

1. Red highly contoured body. Very visible and touchable curves and stuff.
2. Six point bridge with bolt on arm, and solid block saddles but not as in my deluxe. Solid block but curvier somehow.
3. Rosewood fretboard.
4. Truss road bolt on headstock.
5. Bridge pickup is a dimarzio the one that is mini humbucker like two lines( don't know if it was there or changed.
6. Single-ply pickguard.
7. Keys that look like vintage on their head but the mechanism is not.
8. Serial no. Txxxxxx
9. On the front of headstock Fender in big letters and then on the circular part under B and E keys Written Squier.

Just to add, on the front of headstock it says MADE IN and then it's erased by owner so I suppose not American.

Thanks in advance . Will post pictures after next lesson!!!

Fender Squier Series.
Made in Japan would be my guess. Good throwaround guitars. My absolute favourite is one.

Hi petros_antoniou,

Looks like an early Squire, maybe Mex or Korean. It seems that the only "Made in..." decals that are on the front of the headstock, besides US, are the Mex, and maybe Korean Squires. All other countries "Made in..." will be on the back, such as Japanese, Indonesia, China. The serial number starting with N would be an American 90s Strat, or tribute series, and it is definitely neither one of those. Is it possible that there was an "M" in front of the "N" on the serial number? I'm leaning towards a 90 something Mexican Squire (maybe 90 to 94, in that range) which I think were probably the best Squires made IMO. The digit after the "N" on the serial number could be the second part of the year if it is Mex. Example, MN3xxxxx could indicate a Mex made 93 model. Can't wait to see pics! :)

Edit:
Just saw your post nikininja, that first picture is exactly what I was thinking of for the OPs Strat. Wow, I thought your guitar might be a real '64-'65, didn't know you did that. Great job!

Me own a 64-65? No mate, all my guitars are modern. I have one old amp and 2 old wah's. All bought because they were silly prices.
One of those unfortunate people with more sense than money.

Cor, imagine owning a nice early 64???

Yeah, when I first saw your Strat picture in another post, i assumed that the truss hole was a dark stain like from a cigarette. I really like the decal job, nice! But, yeah, mmmmm, '64 Straaaaat, gurgle...! :)

'64 Strats seem to be an underappreciated year in the vintage market ...

they deserve the love.
