Alright I have a major problem, and i can't for the life of me find the problem or fix it. First off let me start by saying that its not just the pickups I understand that the 60 cycle hum will be there lol. The extra hum goes away as soon as I touch something metal so its gotta be a grounding issue I just cant find the problem with them. Please throw some ideas at what i can do to fix it, any help will definitely be appreciated.

Hi michaelusastrat22,

What kind of guitar and amp do you have? Does your amp have the ground pin intact on the plug (3 prong), and plugged into a properly grounded outlet (3 hole)? Are you talking about touching something metal on the guitar, or touching some other equipment to make the hum go away? If you touch the strings or bridge on the guitar and the hum goes away, check to make sure the bridge is grounded, through the trem claw and springs if a trem version.

I'm Using 2 Different Strats that do this, as well as a classic vibe telecaster. # of my strats don't do this problem so i know it isn't my amp. My Amp is a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe The 2 Strats I am Referencing are both 94's one has 57/62 in it and the other has the original pups. When i touch anything metal on the guitar the extra noise goes away. So the guitars have to have a ground issue somewhere i just dont know were to look to fix it, because the trem claws on both seem to be connected correctly. Thanks for checkin out my problem

OK, It does sound like a possible grounding issue with the guitars. Remove the pick guard and back plate to inspect all of the wiring. I would check physically and with a meter, the connections from the ground on the back of the pots, to the trem claw to make sure that the wires and solder joints are good and haven't broken loose. Make sure you have no pinched wires either. The Telecasters sometimes will have a poor connection to ground the bridge, if at all. I have seen a few Teles that just have the bridge ground wire sandwiched between the bridge and body, which isn't a good connection. I have seen others that are connected with the pickup height adjustment screws, also not a good connection. Start with checking the wiring/solder at all connections. Also, check the input jacks on the noisy guitars, make sure that the nut is very tight on them, they can get loose.
