I'm looking at an American Strat at a local pawn shop, can I get the history of it with the S//N N9392772 year & model. Also is it worth $700.00 not in mint condition but it does sound and play good.

Hi there.

Well, looking at all the pictures you have provided, I can tell you this.......

We here are not mind readers, we need pictures of said guitar, the more the better.

From the information you've given it sounds like a 97 and $700 is too much.

As Jeff said, thats a pointless assessment, we need to see it to accurately assess it.

I didn't get any photos because it is in a pawn shop, I figured it was a bit much for the condition but I'm just not sure of the model. I think it may be a deluxe but it may be a standard. I thought I could find out from the S/N.

There are many people on e-bay that will make you a water decal that can say anything these days.
The serial number COULD be right, of a fake.

And with all the companies that make replacement Fender parts, it is just too easy to fake a guitar.

Pictures don't lie, and really, it need to be appraised by a fender tech in some cases to know if it's right or a fake.

Like Niki said though $700 seems a little steep for a 97 AM Standard in only fair condition. I see lots of better deals on Craigslist for newer models in great shape. With the economy the way it is it's a buyer's market if you take your time. MHO!

Enter the serial number here and get some info,

Hmmm!! Not a good sign. I'd steer away from that particular guitar. There are hundreds out there for sale at a reasonable price.

I agree that $700 is too much for a guitar that is 10 years old and not any type of collector item or rarity. You can buy a brand new one for $1000 or less.

If it is a pawnshop, they probably didn't give the seller more than $150 for it, if even that. If you are still interested in the guitar, try talking them down--way down. Pawn shops don't give you crap for your stuff. Everyone knows that. So they may be willing to let it go for $300, which would still provide them a nice profit. It doesn't hurt to try.

A serial number beginning with N9 + 6 digits indicates a 1999 model.

Thanks for all your help, I've decided to stay away from this one. I'm sure I'll find some thing else.
