Got no desire for a new guitar at all.

Don't read guitar mags.

Really? "Guitarist" and "Guitar & Bass" magazines are regular monthly fixtures in my house. Sometimes "Guitar Buyer" as well..

It's going into the stores that is far worse - went in the new Guitar Guitar store in my hometown yesterday, looking for a set of tuners.. honestly I was, just tuners..

Before I knew what was happening, I had a Gibson ES339 in my lap and was asking to try it with a Fulltone OCD overdrive. Somehow, and with superhuman effort, I didn't buy the Gibson (lovely guitar though, just too expensive). But the OCD did come home with me. Makes a nice pair with my Fulldrive 2 Mosfet overdrive..

The last Strat I bought should have been 2 sets of strings and a midi lead..

I tell you, they shouldn't let me out - I'm not safe in those places :?

Adey I won't pay to read adverts. I just don't trust the things at all. The tabs and lessons I have no use for. The letters page has been the same regurgitated bile for the last 20 years. The personal adverts are a laugh (what kind of idiot advertises for a drummer and bassist in a guitar mag). You never see a bad review in them, despite there being plenty of bad gear on the market. They can't slate a guitar/amp/fx pedal made by someone who's just paid muchos grando spondoolicks for a 2 page advert.

Highway

All my guitars are nice ones. Why feel sorry for me? I feel quite satisfied and I'm not going to go and splurge a load of dough on something I don't need or just by more of the same. When something does come along that I want to pursue (building my own amp or effects recent cases) I'm free to pursue it at my leisure and get really nice, individual gear.

I too have been stricken with this disease in the past. 6 Strats later it seems to be in remission. Partly because of the economy and mostly because I can only play one at a time. However I could relapse at any moment.
