Just wanted to touch base with the forums to see if any knows about the Shoreline Gold color. I have seen this on a Strat in the past, but it doesn't look like any of the production American models offer it as an option (or any instrument for that matter). Does the custom shop entertain such build requests, or is that just a pipe dream as well?

Not an American-made Strat, but the MIM Classic Players '50s Strat, designed by the Custom Shop, is available in Shoreline Gold. I've got one and the quality is top-notch... might be worth considering...

Here's a link to the CP '50s on the product page... The actual color looks way better than the picture shown on Fender's product page...

Shoreline Gold was a color featured on the old hot-rodded American Strats of the late '90's, specifically the Lone Star Strat and its offspring, the Roadhouse and Big Apple Strats. I always thought it was a beautiful color that looked good with either maple or rosewood boards. I'm not sure if it hasn't been offered on one or two other "special" Strat models, but I'd be shocked if the custom shop wouldn't paint one up for you.

Hi Bromarr, welcome to the Forum.

Just to add to what the others have said, yes the Custom Shop will do (almost) anything you want. Extra-catalog finishes are just exactly the sort of thing they exist for. Ask and ye shall receive. Well, ask... and pay, of course.

Cheers - C

+1 on the 50's Player (which comes in that color).
American parts (including the neck) but "made" in Mexico.
It's a great strat.

as said before, go for the CP 50's and you wont be sorry. Shoreline gold is my favorite Fender color by far and if I played Strats I would have a CP 50's. Played em a few times before and they are very quality guitars and those pups sound super.

I like shoreline gold but the stripe on the mayer one looks silly to me.

Fender really should use that color more often. I like it with a Rosie board the best. :)

Wonderful pic, by the way. The only thing I don't like about the stripe on the Mayer sig model is that it takes away from that beautiful finish! This is great, I'm going to take a serious look at the MIM model, that kind of great feedback is just too hard to ignore. I have a MIJ 69 Thinline Tele that's of just amazing build quality. The PUPS were a bit noisy, so I recently replaced them with custom shop noiseless, wow what a difference. When I get the strat I'll have my Fender arsenal complete. Thanks for the great input, gang.

But its not on all the color ways just the Shorline Gold one and the Charcoal Frost metallic. The White, sunburst, Cypress Mica, and black models don't have stripes
