I had a 96 Mex Squier and the size and shape of the body was the same as a Mex Std, but the Squier body was laminated and the forearm relief is at a different angle on the Squier body. It was a great Strat, the Mex Squiers were probably the best of the Squiers if you ask me. Some of the Asian Squiers may have thinner bodies than the Mex Std. All of the Squiers have a different forearm relief angle from the Mex and US bodies. :)

I put vintage style Gotoh tuners on mine, I had to drill the holes in the headstock bigger to accept the new ferrules. The nut will be the same slot size on Squier, MIM and US, but could be curved bottom or straight bottom. The pick guard will fit, although the screw holes on some will be in a different location, you may have to drill some new holes in the body. I remember that the pole pieces on the Squier pickups were more narrowly spaced than the Mex or US pickups, but I'm not sure if the pickups were the same size or not, but you could swap the entire pick guard assembly if the pickups are different size (US and Mex pickups are about 2-3/4 inch long, 11/16 inch wide). I also put a Mex Std bridge on mine, 2/16 inch mounting and string spacing, it fit with no modification required. The US and Mex bridges will be either 2-1/16 inch or 2-7/32 inch for the string spacing and mounting spacing, the Squiers are probably all 2-1/16 inch spacing, make sure that you get the right spacing. :)

+1

There is some compatibility between the MIM Fender and MIM Squier instruments and the degree seems to vary between the different production years. They seem to share the bridge specs (MIM Standard only) but pickguards are hit or miss. Be prepared to drill a few new mounting holes "just in case".
