as the title mentions, i installed the texas special neck and middle from pickups i had from a previous project.
i cant explain it other than it sounds fuller, warmer, clearer, and overdrives very well.
it sounds awesome.....

i will need to get a bridge texas special.

by the way, i have the pickups almost flushed with the pickguard, because i had not set the height yet. but i think i might just leave it.

I absolutely love the Texas Specials in my American Special. It took a while for me to get used to the bridge pickup, but back the tone to 2 or 3 and it gets the tone where I like it.

Glad you like the mod. Keep Rockin'!!!

thanks RK

in positions 5-1, 5 being neck and bridge 1, 5 sounds thicker,fuller,
warmer.
position 4 sounds nice, quacks yet still war at the same time.
position 3 sounds great also, great for rhythm,
now position 4 i get a weaker sound and excessive nasally sound when overdriven.
position 1 sounds good, yet i can hear a difference, slightly weaker, thinner sounding than the ts. (now could this be a cold solder?)
i may need a texas special bridge to balance out the sound, or maybe even a hot rails pickup.
