I'm thinking of putting these on my 40th anniversary strat. I would appreciate comments from anyone who has experience of them. I love that tremolo lever and with the help of a little Nut Sauce in the right places the tuning is pretty stable, but could perhaps be better yet? I hope?

Hi derekbiggerstaff: it's quality product, to be sure.

Be aware, if you look around you'll find that Gotoh have several different versions of "vintage" style tuners in their premium range. There are the regular ones that just reproduce as closely as possible the original '50s machines. There is also a locking model which you might think about if tuning stability with the wammy is your top concern.

And frankly I don't have any tuning problems at all with this set. Not locking, but each one has a height adjustable capstan so you can set a stagger to the tops of exactly your own personal preference and thus do away with the string tree (another potential source of problems with return-to-pitch). No other staggered tuner on the market offers such precise control of that aspect:




Have a good hunt of several of the online sellers (WD Music, Stew-Mac, GuitarPartsResource, etc) before buying, to make sure you've seen all the models.
