If you're looking for an early 1990's JB Strat with 3 Gold Lace single-coils, you're out of luck, because the guitar you've mentioned is the current signature with the dual-coil hot ceramic pickups which debuted in 2001.

The guitar you're talking about is the Strat Plus, for which the original Jeff Beck model is based.

As far as I know that guitar youre looking for is a prototype, so I dont think youll find it, and if you could that would be over 5K.

According to The Stratocaster Book, in late 1986 Jeff Beck asked Fender to make a custom Stratocaster painted the same color as the hot rod in the movie American Graffiti. Fender named the color Graffiti Yellow.

During that time Fender asked Jeff for a signature model, but he rejected the idea until 1991, when he opted for an Artist Signature guitar based on the Strat Plus, introduced in 1987.

Jeff Beck's famous "Hot-Rod" Strat Plus was manufactured at the fall of the 1980s; it featured a custom hot-rod car graphic finish, a Blue/Silver/Red Sensor combo and a single-ply 8-hole pickguard. This guitar is shown on page 95 of Paul Day & Tony Bacon's best-selling book "Electric Guitars - The Illustrated Encyclopedia".

the one I am looking at is early 90's, but with 3 pickups (not the humucker) it has the signature on the headstock.
comes with tweed case.

Would this be a rare piece? since the only other ones from this time seem to have the humbucker?

thanks for your patience

No, they were never released with 3 regular pickups until they were revised in 2001. Probably someone didn't like the dual Lace and replaced the pickups/pickguard. If it has 3 Laces it could have been replaced by a Strat Plus loaded pickguard.

I found this info on the net: I believe this guitar is one of these?
the one I am looking at is white with 3 pick ups (lace?), was not modified by the owner, and definately a 1990 or 1991

"A few months earlier (before March, 1987), JEFF BECK had asked Fender to make him a `62 Vintage model painted in the same yellow color as the souped-up Ford truck featured in the movie American Graffiti. The company obliged but seized the opportunity to talk Jeff into having a namesake Stratocaster model. The STRAT PLUS prototype was therefore put together with Jeff beck in mind, hence its yellow finish christened Graffiti Yellow. But Beck (temporarily) turned down Fender's proposal and the first Stratocaster with Sensors came out as the STRAT PLUS." Funny thing is, some people get a Graffiti Yellow Strat Plus and think it is a Jeff Beck proto-type! There was never a Jeff Beck proto-type on the market!

In 1990 Jeff Beck took up Fender's offer and they released the Jeff Beck Signature Strat Plus. Amazingly, it did not come in Graffiti Yellow! The JB Strat was released in Vintage White, Surf Green and Midnight Purple! Some "special orders" of the Graffit Yellow were sold. We will talk about the JB Strat Plus later on.

If you have or know about an early 90 JB Strat with 3 pickups, someone changed the pickguard and pickups as when this guitar was released it had 4 pickups, all being Gold Lace with e Gold Lace Dually in the bridge with a push button kill switch for one for the pickups.

regarding the JB Proto-type hype, there are been a lot of people over the years that took the story and twisted it.

A. R. Duchossoir points out, and as quoted on my website, in his book called The Fender Stratocaster, the reason for this "marketing" delay:

"A few months earlier (before March, 1987), JEFF BECK had asked Fender to make him a `62 Vintage model painted in the same yellow color as the souped-up Ford truck featured in the movie American Graffiti. The company obliged but seized the opportunity to talk Jeff into having a namesake Stratocaster model. Funny thing is, some people get a Graffiti Yellow Strat Plus and think it is a Jeff Beck proto-type! There was never a Jeff Beck proto-type on the market! A 1987 Graffiti Strat Plus is simply a Graffiti Strat Plus, not to mention the Graffiti American Standard Strat from that same era.

In 1990 Jeff Beck took up Fender's offer and they released the Jeff Beck Signature Strat Plus. Amazingly, it did not come in Graffiti Yellow! The JB Strat was released in Vintage White, Surf Green and Midnight Purple!

See a 1990 JB Strat below in Surf Green:

Right, but these colours were actually available in the regular Artist series.

There was also a Custom Shop version of the Jeff Beck model in Mystic Black Metallic. I've seen a Mystic Black Jeff Beck Signature Strat on a Japanese website in the past and unlike the regular production JB models, this rare bird was made at the Custom Shop and featured a 4-ply cream pearloid pickguard.

When ya start talking Custom Shop, that is a whole other beast! CS models always have unique variants. Also what I wrote above only applied to the early "signature" "artist" Beck models, not the new ones with the slimmer neck, and 3 noiseless pickups.
