I am thinking of buying one of the 61 Thin Skin Strats in vintage white, but I am not sure if I will be happy, since I am used to buying and playing Fender Custom Shop guitars. Does anyone have any feedback on these guitars and what dealer would you buy one of these guitars from? 8)

I'd check Music Machine or Dave's Guitar ...

I have decided to buy a Custom Shop NOS 60' Strat in vintage white from The Music Gallery. I have done business with them before and Frank is great to deal with. I should have my new guitar next week. I decided to stick with the Custom Shop Strats. :D

The one in the Chicago area? I hear they are good.

I did some business with them in the late '70s .... bought a Dean Z.

What type of music do you play and why do you just play CS Strats?

I ordered the very same 61 thinskin in vintage white from Davesguitar and it is a fantastic guitar....as good as any custom shop Strat I have ever played. The workmanship is perfect....the body contours are very sleek and vintage like. The playability is fantastic....the 9.5 radius combined with 6105 frets makes it really slick. The fat 50s pickups are really nice too....very authentic vintage Strat tones with a solid low midrange voicing all while retaining detailed clarity in the top end.The acoustic tone is beautiful too.My other Strat's strings always go dead after a few songs at a gig...the big E tends to get muddy. With this Strat,I am amazed at how the twang is still there on that string after 6 or 7 gigs(I have not even cleaned my strings and I sweat a lot).Maybe I lucked out and got the pick of the litter but this Strat really sings with authentic vibe. The custom shop sure makes some wonderful guitars but I can't say I have ever played a better one than mine....it is that good. With the thinskin,100% nitro and those custom shop fat 50s pickups, you are getting the same guitar as a much more expensive Custom Shop one.
