Hello co-Stratlovers,

I have been browsing these forums for quite some time now. I already read some good topics on how to pick your 1st guitar.

I have already narrowed down the great selection Fender Stratocasters has to an American Deluxe, a Vintage Hot Rod 62 (maybe a 57) and a Fender Custom Deluxe. I know these vary in price somewhat but I have the budget for all three.

My question would be if it's worth it spending the extra money on a Custom Deluxe (do these come in other colors except then the red one btw?). I know it's a CS but still.. Also, are the Vintage Hot Rods considered custom shop?

Kind regards,

Hello there and welcome to the Fender Lounge!

Nice strats you´ve putted out there. No, the American Vintage Hot Rod is not Custom Shop, but indeed a great guitar!
All the models you´ve mentioned are out-of-the-box awesomeness of strats.
The Custom Deluxe comes in other colors too, try looking up at other online stores, I recommend you Sweetwater (great customer feedback) and Music123, both are shipping free and free tax for most states.

Besides the red tangerine, here they got it in olympic white and sonic blue also, I can only dream to have one of there for now, but Im happy with my american standard.

Fender Custom Shop Special Edition Custom Deluxe Stratocaster Electric Guitar $1.999,99

Cheers!

Hey joaokorb,

I was almost certain to get a reply from you. I've seen your replies and that sexy FSR Mercedes blue Strat of yours all over the place :P..

About the url you gave, is that Strat like yellowed/aged white (they call it?)? I've been looking for that color for ages.

I forgot to mention that I'm not from the US unfortunately. I have to order from either Germany or the UK if they don't have the Strat I want in my own country, The Netherlands.

The Vintage Hotrods are not customshop guitars, they are productionline instruments.

Personaly I'd go for the custom deluxe. The quality of the customshop guitars is noticably better.

The color you seek is the "vintage white". ProGuitarShop.com got them in a FSR model.

For UK I can recommend you mansons, great customer support and plenty of Custom Shop models. Mansons.co.uk 8)

Haha, I won't forget! Just going to figure out what Strat I want. So I'll do some testing and try to find a nice amp before I decide. Might take a while :P

Fender Pro Junior III is the one I got, excellent tone ranges. I would recommend you the Blues Junior III also, ProGuitarShop got them in a Limited Run red color and Celestion speaker!

Wow.. I did not know PGS had a free worldwide shipping policy (few countries excluded)!

Thank you so much, they have such a nice stock!

One question though, do I need to setup the guitar myself since it would be shipped overseas? Or isn't that such a big deal?
