that's a good deal, Musician's Friend is asking $900 right now.
Sam Ash is great, last time I bought from them, they called a few days after delivery (from FedEx), to make sure I was person that received delivery and then about a month later, they sent a coupon for $50, good for anything $50 and up. Only reason I don't buy from them more often is that they charge tax for online orders in NY, and I live on Long Island.

Looks like Musician's Friend has the $699.00 Road Worn Strats and Teles now:

American Musical Supply has them at that price, too. Wonder if they're blowing them out for some reason? Maybe a spec change of some kind coming during Winter NAMM?

I just ordered the fender FSR American stratocaster with TBX and Midboost today. I got the additional 15% off of their sale price at Musician friend. so, I got a sweet deal on the Blizzard pearl. Does anyone know if the pearl color has metallic flakes similar to the Olympic pearl color in Deluxe strats?
I found that strat because it was mentioned on this forum. So I checked it out and got a great deal. Thanks

That's a nice one, had my eye on it also. Just tried the coupon code for the heck of it, said I did not have a qualifying item in cart, sure you got the discount?

Just picked up a gorgeous '08 U.S DeLuxe Strat at G.C. from the used rack,.. she's sunburst with a maple fretboard, locking tuners, roller ball-bearing nut, 2 single coil pick-ups and 1 double humbucker, and S1 switching...all for $695.00... well the guitar went for $895.00 but I had an old Ampeg Gemini amp stashed away in my attic for like 15 years, and I brought it in to them and they gave me $200.00 for it off the cost of the guitar... great deal for me as I NEVER played thru the amp, and was glad to get the discount..they'll probably clean it up and sell it for $600.00 but that's fine with me.. the amp had 2 channels,..1 for guitar, and 1 for an accordion..go figure.. even had a foot pedal to switch the reverb on an off..

Oh well, my question is,.. what is better, maple or rosewood fretboard? I wanted rosewood because thats what SRV and Clapton always played on, but this guitar is a beauty, tho' I believe it needs a set-up,.. its real difficult to tune..

I ordered it on sunday when they had 10% off on the phone with MF. I woke up next day (yesterday) and found their 15% off sale. I then called to get a price match. They gave me extra 5% off for a total of 15% off. The guy I talked to never said fender doesn't qualify. So, it worked good for me.

Nice buy mate!

Fender products never qualifies for GuitarCenter and Music123 stores. They´re always on the exclusion lists.

This is all a matter of preference. The rosewood will be a bit darker/warmer and the Maple a bit more clear/bright. Honesty though, with some tone tweaking you shouldn't notice a great deal of difference. I have an American Speical with Maple that I can get some pretty muddy dark tones out of. I own maple and rosewood and love them both.

I received my FSR american strat with noiseless pickups in Blizzard pearl. Opened it up and found a huge ding in body. And they sent me a rosewood instead of a maple board. Guitar sounds good. But not quite what I expected. Sending it back. dissappointing.

I was mainly disappointed that it came damaged. I wasn't crazy about the color also. It did sound and play good. I would have got the sunburst ash, but I already have a sienna sunburst strat which is similar.
